A personal thought from the author:

As a kid, I grew up reading the Choose Your Own Adventure novels, and it was these books that got me into reading and eventually writing. I have always wanted to write my own interactive book where the reader makes decisions throughout the story. I was also able to bring one of my passions to the book which is surfing. I love books about adventure and mystery and I feel as though Escape From Tanaka Island fits both of these categories.
