Introduction

One of the many ways to describe our world, from a certain perspective, might be as a “FINANCIAL WORLD”. What I want to emphasize by this is the importance of finances in our society and our individual lives. Finances play a crucial role on the macro level in our society and functioning of countries and on a micro level in the functioning of businesses, companies and in the lives of individuals.

Almost all aspects of our lives are influenced by finances. Health – both mental and physical, our thinking and feeling, freedom, diets, how and where we spend our time, family, relationships and our general wellbeing and quality of life…

the list is very long. I'm not gonna write everything but, you’ve got the point. Some aspects and areas are influenced more, and some less so. It also depends on the individual.

Of course, the importance of finances on the items above is obvious! Even if in our society, the widespread opinion is that: “Money is not important!” Well, everybody can have their own opinion but realistically, when the facts are clear, money is important! I'm not saying the most important, but it is crucial and it IS NOT POSSIBLE to exist without it in our society, at least unless you’re living off the grid, are self-sufficient and 100% unplugged from the monetary system.

Often, people are unaware of how much influence finances have on certain aspects of their lives, like for example, their health. Lower purchasing power (less money) can lead to buying lower quality food which can cause some health issues. Similarly, it can mean living in a lower quality neighborhood or property. Also, a big issue in our society is stress, often caused by a lack of finances when we’re not capable of providing for

all our needs. Some studies show that around 70% of Americans lose sleep over their finances. So, even a sleeping disorder may be caused by finances.

And what about freedom? We generally think that we are free (especially in the western world) and don’t even discuss freedom, but once again realistically—you are as free as your purchasing power allows you to be!

A person with limited finances can’t make many choices.

Let’s do a thought experiment. This might be a mind opening, especially for those who still refuse to admit the importance of the finances, have a lack of money and keep saying – “I don’t need money” or “Money is not important!” I believe that the claim, “Money is not important!” is a psychological one, which makes someone in a bad financial situation feel better.

So, let’s say you are an average person with an average monthly income of about $3000 net, working at a job that you hate. You’ve got a mortgage, student loan, car loan and some credit card debt…

And now, imagine you’ve got a $1billion or an unlimited source of money…

Here comes the question!

Would you live exactly the same life? Be honest!

Of course, the answer is obvious. Not only would your life on the outside be completely different, but your thoughts and feelings would be totally changed.

The example with $1billion or an unlimited source money is a little bit exaggerated, but it perfectly demonstrates the point; how higher purchasing power and better financial mobility can affect our life. It also shows that we're living our lives based on our financial limitations and not on our desires.

Our financial limitations are underlined by our financial education and knowledge. So, if we gain a good financial education and knowledge, we can improve our financial situation, get rid of the limitations and start living a real free life based on our desires.
